Establishment

In view of the vast potential of the country for the production of quality Pomegranate, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi established the National Research centre on Pomegranate (NRCP) on June 16, 2005 at Kegaon in Solapur district of Maharshtra. The centre, however, was inaugurated by Honourable Union Minister of Agriculture, Shri Sharad Pawar on 25th September 2005 in presence of Dr Mangala Rai, Secretary DARE & Director-General, ICAR.

The Research Centre is located at Kegaon (North Solapur taluka) near to Solapur University on Pune-Hyderabad National Highway, 15 km from Solapur City.
